You are seeing a 16 year-old patient for routine care. She is constantly on her phone smiling and giggling. You ask her what she is doing on her phone that is making her so happy. She says she is talking to her new boyfriend on Snapchat; he is 17 and lives an hour away. They met on Facebook a month ago. They are in love and he is coming to see her this weekend.

Concern

Teens are active on social media and use it to form and maintain relationships. However, recruitment for sex trafficking is often done through social media.
