Shifting Your Frame of Reference

Sometimes shifting our frame of reference can contribute to wellness.

Here are some strategies to explore:

  • Become more process-oriented, rather than outcome-oriented
  • Keep in mind you are one important piece of a very big picture—one branch on a whole tree addressing the abuse of a child
  • Explore a broader world view (macro) while at the same time acknowledge the little ways you make a difference (micro)
  • Notice your negative thoughts and reframe them
    • Create a targeted, supportive personal mantra
    • Challenge feelings of helplessness with acknowledgement that even just showing up and having compassion for others is something extremely valuable
