Course : 0001 Child Abuse Reporting: The Basics

This course provides basic information for the medical provider regarding child abuse reporting. However, it is not The New York State Office of Children and Family Services Mandated Reporter Training in Child Abuse and Neglect/Maltreatment Identification course. Register for that free online course at https://nysmandatedreporter.org. New York State Mandated Reporters must complete this updated training by April 1, 2025, to be in compliance with N.Y. Soc. Serv. Law § 413(5).

Objectives

  • Describe the epidemiology of child maltreatment.
  • Explain the definitions of abuse.
  • Describe the method for reporting.
  • State the legal requirement for reporting suspected abuse or neglect.
