Caring with Compassion

What is Compassion?

Compassion is a desire to help someone who is suffering, viewing the circumstance from your point of view.

Empathy is sharing an emotional state, such as suffering, with another, viewing the circumstance from their point of view.

Having compassion and empathy causes neurobiological changes that foster feelings of social connection. We have evolved for this, and many studies have shown compassion and empathy combat feelings of burnout.
